Protect your TV During your Move09/24/2017Something awful that can go wrong when you move is breaking something important… especially the TV…. At A-1 Freeman Moving Group, we know it’s terrible to get all moved in but not be able to sit down and relax in front of the TV because it broke. We want to make sure your move is as stressless as we can here in Wichita Falls, whether your move is local or long distance. We know how hard it can be, so we’ve write up a few tips and tricks for you need to pack up your TV. First off, you will need a box that’s appropriate for your TV. Using the box and packaging that it came in is a great idea – if you kept that. If you got rid of it though, you can find a box made specially for moving flat-screen TVs from somewhere like a hardware store or a moving supply store. You should find a box that is just a little bit bigger than the TV, but not by a lot; you don’t want the TV to shift around when it’s inside. To move fragile and large items requires packing and moving experience, not just big moving trucks or specialized equipment. At A-1 Freeman Moving Group our team of experienced movers will help you with your move, even securing your TV and making sure it’s packaged up correctly. Before unplugging everything, a good idea is to take a picture of the strip on your TV with all of the cords still plugged in. This will make your life a lot easier when you have to reinstall everything. After this, start getting your TV ready to pack. First disconnect the power cord, then take out all the other connecting wires and cords. Place all of it in a bag together and keep it with the box. Sometimes there is a base you need to remove from the television in order to pack it. If that’s the case, put all the parts into a little bag and keep it with the TV so it doesn’t get lost. After this is done, you can get the TV all packed up. No matter if you are moving far from Wichita Falls or you are just moving locally, it’s very important to know your television is properly covered. Use foam pieces to go over the TV screen, these will come in your kit if purchased one, or in the box that your TV came in originally if you are using that. The foam not only keeps the screen from being scratched, but it also will keep your television from moving around in the box when you’re moving. Secure the foam pieces with mover’s wrap or tape. Then use blankets or sheets to cover the TV and prevent it from getting scratched. After your TV is all covered up it’s time to place it into the box! Keep it upright when you do this, and secure it by stuffing spaces and gaps with blankets. This keeps the TV from shifting around in its box. The last step is to get the television into the truck, or let the movers do it for you. Make sure you keep the box upright and put it next to or between other flat, solid items, including your mattress, dresser, or a bookshelf. You can’t forget to put your cables with the TV, in a bag taped to the side or in another box. Once that’s done you’re all ready to go! Hopefully you have a moving company here in Wichita Falls to help you out, getting you across the country or your town quickly and safely, with all of your stuff intact. If not, A-1 Freeman Moving Group has got you covered!
